Canberra Crash Memorial in Lea, near Cottam, Preston

The memorial statues in Canberra Lane.

On 25th March 1952, Canberra Mk.2 WD991 took off from Samlesbury for the short flight to Warton. The pilot was 29 year old Flight Lieutenant Thomas B. O. Evans, a very experienced pilot. Sadly, the aeroplane crashed before reaching Warton and the pilot was killed.
'Tommy' Evans is buried in Lytham St Anne's Park Cemetery.
